HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 22

Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance in
conjunction with the Public Service Commission to make a
study of the total annual natural gas production in the
State, the volume sold in interstate commerce and the volume
sold within the State.
Whereas, The supply of natural gas in this State is
substantial but its availability for market is not; and
Whereas, It is in the best interest of the State to know
accurate information regarding its production of natural gas; and
Whereas, Existing studies of natural gas production compiled
by the Public Service Commission are inadequate; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance, in
conjunction with the Public Service Commission, is hereby
directed to review, examine and study the total annual natural
gas production in the State, the volume sold in interstate
commerce and the volume sold within the State; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance, in conjunction with the Public Service Commission,
report to the regular session of the Legislature, 1999, on its
findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts
of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations;
and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct
this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary
legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the jJoint
cCommittee on gGovernment and fFinance.
